Department of Consumer Affairs Proposes for mandatory ‘Country of Origin’ filter on E-Commerce platforms
The Department of Consumer Affairs has come up with draft rules which recommend the application of an obligatory ‘Country of Origin’ filter on all ecommerce sites under the Legal Metrology regulations. This aims at improving consumer transparency in terms of making such information available for comparisons at a platform level rather than a product detail level. Moreover, from a legal viewpoint, this imposes additional compliance requirements on ecommerce players in order to make this information accurate and technology-enabled.

Foreign Exchange Management (Export of Goods and Services) (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2025
The RBI has notified the Foreign Exchange Management (Export of Goods and Services) (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2025, amending the 2015 FEMA regulations. The amendments extend the time limit for realisation and repatriation of export proceeds from 9 months to 15 months. They also increase the period for regularisation or write-off of export bills from one year to three years. The changes provide greater operational flexibility and compliance relief to exporters. Overall, the amendment strengthens ease of doing business while maintaining FEMA oversight.

Government Announces Implementation of Four Labour Codes to Simplify and Streamline Labour Laws
The Government of India has integrated 29 central labour laws into four Labour Codes for simplifying, modernising, and streamlining labour laws. These Codes regulate wages, industrial relations, social security, and occupational safety within a unified legal framework. They extend statutory protections to unorganized, gig, and platform workers, while guaranteeing minimum wages and social security coverage. At the same time, they ease compliance for employers through uniform definitions, digital registration, and fewer filings. Reforms have been aimed at striking a balance between worker welfare with labour market flexibility and ease of doing business. Draft Telecommunications Sharing, Trading and Leasing of Spectrum Rules, 2025
The Draft Telecommunications (Sharing, Trading, and Leasing of Spectrum) Rules, 2025 have introduced a regulatory framework for carrying out secondary trades in telecommunications spectrum under the Telecommunications Act, 2023. With this, such practices of sharing, trading, and leasing of telecommunications spectrum have been recognized in law subject to government approval and licensing requirements. Among other players in the telecommunications sector, this promotes certainty for telecommunications operators.

Sanchar Saathi App: Telecom Empowerment at Citizens’ Fingertips
Sanchar Saathi is a government platform (by the Department of Telecommunications, DoT) designed to help mobile users track SIMs linked to their Aadhaar, report lost/stolen phones, and prevent telecom fraud. From a legal standpoint, the app operates under several statutory frameworks and government powers. Rising cyber threats have made safeguarding mobile users a pressing national concern. In response to these escalating threats, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) introduced the Sanchar Saathi mobile app—a citizen-centric tool that brings robust security features and fraud-reporting capabilities directly to users’ smartphones.
